Mardi, avril 3rd, 2007

When smart people get to talk, meet, in the middle of the battle field. All for the best, hopefully:

Their common concern can be shrunk down to a agreement on not contributing to limiting free and open exchange:

That said, Chris and I are in complete agreement that it would be tragic if this

My laptop is gone back to Acer

Jeudi, mars 29th, 2007

It’s been overheating for quite a while, and did fail on Feisty install. Feisty Server install could go through (90 and 95°C at the end of the install), so it’s booting, and the tech from Acer can run their tests from Windows. I’m not linking to Acer main web page, it has an “Enjoy Vista” […]

Kathy Sierra thinks about not blogging anymore due to violent death threats comments on her blog and on other web sites. She even canceled conferences she was due to give.

You don’t need to be a developer. You don’t need to know anything about

Firestarter blocking updates or upgrades on Ubuntu

Vendredi, mars 16th, 2007

That looked a little weird to me, but on several occasions I recommended to check whether > Preferences > Advanced options > Block traffic from reserved addresses on public interfaces was unticked in Firestarter. When ticked, this prevents updates/upgrades.
